MYTH #1 – THE CHAMBER IS A BRANCH OF LOCAL GOVERNMENT
NOPE! The Springville Area Chamber of Commerce is a membership-based, non-profit organization managed by a Board of Directors, made up of volunteers from our community and the Chamber Services Director. We do work with the Village, Town, County and State Governments; however, our most important roles are to serve as the voice of businesses within our community and promote, develop and support our membership.
MYTH #2 – ONLY A CERTAIN KIND OF BUSINESS CAN JOIN THE CHAMBER
WRONG! The Springville Area Chamber of Commerce membership represents the diverse community we serve, including small businesses on Main Street, large local and national businesses, farmers across several counties, non-profit groups and organizations, local governments and even small home-based businesses; the list goes on and on.
MYTH #3 – MEMBERS MUST SERVE ON COMMITTEES AND ATTEND EVENTS
ONLY IF YOU WANT! The Springville Area Chamber of Commerce welcomes all members (and non-members alike!) to attend as many or as few committee meetings and events as your heart desires! We believe it’s a great way to network, meet new people, get involved to make our community a better place…and have fun, but they are definitely optional.
MYTH #4 – IT COSTS TOO MUCH TO JOIN THE CHAMBER
WELL, THAT’S FOR YOU TO DECIDE! The 2017 Springville Area Chamber of Commerce For-Profit Business Membership dues are $150 per year, which breaks down to $2.88 per week, and our Non-Profit Business Membership dues are $75 per year, which breaks down to $1.44 per week. Those prices are WAY less than your favorite cup of coffee/tea – and membership dues are a tax-deductible business expense.
The Springville Area Chamber of Commerce consists of member businesses that invest their time and money to work together to advance the civic, economic, cultural and social betterment of our community. Together we work 24/7 to promote, support and advocate for the Springville Area and beyond. We believe the work we do is worth the price of membership.
