Joan Taylor had a nervous tone in her voice as she spoke about her hard work as chairman of the WNY Dairy AG Festival for the past 29 years.
But the reason for Taylor’s uneasy tone is because the event, which is held the first weekend in June at SGI High School, may soon come to a close if no additional sponsorships come forward. Taylor says the festival committee usually sees all their sponsorships from local businesses already, but as of March, not a single check has come through.
“The festival costs around $18,000 to $20,000 to put together. From permits, to insurance, electric, and fireworks; we can’t put on this festival without our local businesses,” she said.
So why has no one come forward this month? Taylor says she really doesn’t know, but the committee will have a meeting on March 21 to discuss their options.
